Mixed Media Bezels with Graphic 45 and 3L Adhesives

I decided to do something a little bit different for this blog hop and make my own embellishments.  The stickers from Graphic 45  have an amazing quality about them, and I knew that they would perform well under resin, due to the finish they have.  With resin, you typically need to seal your paper components in some way to keep the integrity of the paper, not so with these wonderful stickers!  (Note: I did in fact seal the paper used in the By the Sea Pendant.)

I used the EZ Runner by 3L Scrapbook Adhesives to hold my paper in place before pouring my resin, and it worked like a charm! 

 

 

 

To add visual interest here I cut my gears in half.  It just did not look right with one whole gear floating in the bezel.  

 

 

I really like how the layering turned out in this beach themed focal.  I used the trick of using an odd number of things inside to keep things looking good. 

 



 

 

This one has some of the Graphic 45 Shabby Chic staples inside.  The finish on these matches the theme perfectly.  I also used tissue tape to back my bezel as I liked the translucent look in the background. 



 

 

 

I made a nautical By the Sea necklace with one of my finished pieces.  Watch for future projects to see how I add in my other fun embellishments in unique ways.  I just love taking paper crafting to new places! Cheers!

 

 

By the Sea Beach House

Today I have a sweet little beach house made for Xyron,  With the use of my handy 5" Creative Station and my 1.5" Sticker Maker I was able to put this together in no time.

To start I edged the little house shape with tissue tape.  I love how it is a perfect fit!

I added a few layers of By the Sea paper from Graphic 45.  To add a bit of personal meaning, I wrote in a few of my dreams in between the layers of paper.  Giving special meaning to projects makes my inner artist smile.

For each layer of paper I used my Xyron sticker makers.  I love how the adhesive covers all the way to the edges and has no dry time!

Finally I finished off my fun house with some brass charms and bits from my stash.  Looking forward to a fun summer by the water, can you tell!?!

By the Sea Book Box

I have been dying to make one of the new smaller Tim Holtz Configuration books since they came out, so when Leslie at Alpha Stamps asked me to create one, I jumped at the chance.  

Here is a rather juicy list of supplies from Alpha Stamps.   

For the theme I decided to go with By the Sea by Graphic 45.  I had so many trinkets to fit this theme, which lead me to my choice.

My favorite things about this substrate is that you can combine collage, bookmaking and assemblage all in one.

Inside I used sand mixed with matte medium to create a sandy scape.  In order to add a bit of flash and sparkle I also added some mica flakes when it was still wet.

The inside cover is collaged with lots of goodies. I used my Xyron to ensure that each bit is covered in adhesive.

I love the beads I just happend to find right before making this, I thougth they looked like little sea urchins.

I also used a few weird treasures that have been in my stash for ages, like that rubber seagull.  He is pretty beat up and I have no idea where he came from, probably a box of junk from my dad.

Here is a close up inside another box.  Lots of layers for interest gives the eyes places to wander!

Mermaids Wanted

Since I absolutely adore mermaids I knew I had to make this image the focal of my first project with this lovely new paper, By the Sea for Graphic 45.  

I chose a contrasting background that would make the blue imagery of the “My Anchor” sheet pop.  Once I glued down the background and my layered images, I decided to get fun with some ocean themed stuff I had around the house.  I started by gluing down the starfish with matte medium.  At this time I also layered in some netting that went with the aquatic theme.  Then I got crazy with the shells, layering and layering.  

Finally I dusted it with sand, even adding some matte medium in areas to build up my drifts.  I love how the sand added texture.  

The “mermaid wanted” sign is sandwiched in between two sheets of mica to give it a reflective quality.  I finished off the piece with a plastic anchor that I think was intended for a fish tank.  I find lots of cool stuff at garage sales.
